College Resources: Finding Support for Success
College can feel overwhelming, but students don’t have to navigate it alone. Campuses are filled with resources designed to support academic achievement, personal growth, and overall well-being. This course introduces young adults to the wide range of services available and helps them understand how to access and use these resources effectively.
Participants will learn how to:
Access academic support – Tutoring centers, writing labs, study groups, and faculty office hours.
Use the library and research tools – How to find books, databases, and online materials that support coursework.
Explore advising and counseling services – Academic advisors for course planning and career counselors for future goals.
Utilize financial aid resources – Understanding the financial aid office, scholarships, work-study programs, and emergency grants.
Find wellness and health services – Campus clinics, mental health counseling, fitness centers, and wellness programs.
Engage in student life – Clubs, organizations, and events that promote community, leadership, and networking.
Learn about accessibility services – Support for students with learning differences, disabilities, or special accommodations.
Discover career development opportunities – Internships, job fairs, and resume-building workshops offered on campus.
Stay safe on campus – Public safety offices, escort services, and awareness programs for student protection.
Maximize technology tools – Online portals, course management systems, and apps that streamline learning and communication.
By the end of this course, participants will see that college is more than just classes—it’s a community of resources designed to help them thrive. They’ll leave knowing where to go for support, how to ask for help, and how to make the most of everything their campus has to offer.
